Welcome to the South Pearl Street First Friday Art Experience!
Thank you so much for your participation in the South Pearl Street First Friday Artist Demonstration Event. Through the revitalization of First Friday Art walks on South Pearl, it is our hope that the South Denver and Platt Park communities will experience greater connection through the appreciation of great, high-quality art and connection with local, working artists. We also hope that through this opportunity, artists in the Denver area would experience greater success through connection with galleries, other artists, art collectors, and the community.
As you prepare for your demonstration on First Fridays, here are some guidelines that will ensure each event is a success for artists, business owners, and the community:
Parking: When you first arrive, come into the alley behind the gallery to receive information regarding your assigned location. After receiving your assignment, use your best judgment regarding loading/unloading and parking. Parking within three blocks of Pearl Street is free but limited to two hours between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Streets beyond three blocks on either side of Pearl Street do not have a time limit. There are some loading zones along the street that can be utilized for setup and tear-down. Please be aware of signage and city parking regulations. The parking garage across the street is $1.50 per hour or $7.00 for the entire day. Purchases made at Sushi Den qualify for a $2 validation. Before the evening begins: Artists will need to provide all of their own materials, easels, tables, chairs, umbrellas, and tents. Please be sure that your setup fits within a 10x10 area and place a tarp or drop cloth under your work area in order to maintain the appearance and condition of storefronts, sidewalks, and city property. Beginning at 3:30, light refreshments and opportunities to meet other participating artists will be provided at Gallery 1505. Plan to arrive no later than 4:30 to receive your assigned location and set up your demonstration area. If your schedule requires that you arrive after 5 p.m. or need to leave prior to 10 p.m., please contact Katherine Spahr at email@example.com or by phone (texting is okay) at 719-355-4609 as soon as possible so that we can take various schedules into account when assigning spaces. During the Art Walk You are welcome to display and sell artwork during your demonstration. Artists are responsible for all displays and must handle their own sales. No commission will be taken. Art display and sales are not permitted without an accompanying demonstration. It is not recommended that you leave your booth unattended at any time. Artists are responsible for any loss or theft of personal property Please keep in mind that this a community oriented event and all art created and displayed should be child-appropriate and family friendly. If possible, provide an interactive activity for children and adult participants along with your demonstration Please be aware of any hazards that may be associated with your booth. The Art Walk typically includes children and pets. Please do not allow your setup to obstruct the walkways or present any safety hazards. Artists are liable for their own insurance and are responsible for any damages to property or injuries caused by accidents, negligence, or faulty equipment. Use a tarp or drop cloth to protect the sidewalk from and drips, spills, or accidents. The sidewalks, storefronts, and business property should remain in original condition after your demonstration.
After the Art Walk Artists should plan to provide demonstrations until 10 p.m. If you are unable to stay for the duration of the event, please let Katherine know. Artists are responsible for all setup and teardown. All materials, residue, and booth furnishings must be removed at the end of the event. By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and agree to the guidelines outlined above and my participation in the South Pearl Street First Friday Art Walk Demonstrations is contingent upon my adherence to this agreement
