Terry B. - Lifted Spirit Photos
The feeling of solitude in landscapes Terry B. experiences while exploring nature, inspire his photography. The solitary tree, a lone cloud in a blue sky, a single peak towering above others around it. At one point in Terry's life these scenes drew out feelings of melancholy and isolation however, over time they humbled into feelings of calm, peaceful solitude, and the appreciation of the beauty in silence. Every day he spends in nature now reminds him to be humble. Terry's life journey reflects that of natures many facets. Moments of calm that turned into moments of blazing forest fires and harsh climates, deadly waters, and then back again to beauty and calm. Being in nature reminds him how to appreciate these much quieter, simple, beautiful, and still moments in time.
Aside from nature photography, he has began to branch out towards conservation photography. His hopes are to inform the public of things in nature that need our collective attention.
Terry finds joy and contentment in being of service to others. His humanitarian outreach and philanthropy is hugely important to him.
His love of the natural world is evident in his style and skillful process. He does not often photograph with wide angle lenses, as do many landscape photographers. He prefers creating a feeling of intimacy between the viewer and his subject. His adoration of black and white landscape images are evident in many of his photographic images. He feels to have a bit more artistic leeway where he can add drama through the omission of color. He tends to use color when it enhances the image or his expression of feelings upon seeing the scene in the photograph. He likes to keep his images as realistic as possible while limiting or avoiding Photoshop entirely. Only using different processing techniques to create expressions of artistic freedom within an image. He will make some processing choices while attempting to evoke feelings he felt in the moment the image was taken.
"All of my images lift my spirit - they cause my spirit to jump upon viewing the image. I hope they offer the same excitement in you". - Terrel B. - Lifted Spirit Photos
