Megan Basset

When Megan Basset was little, besides sledding, skating, and skiing, she would spend the cold Wisconsin Winters painting ceramic statues. She was a perfectionist at it. She felt every paint line had to be straight. From then on Basset dabbled in everything creative. She made friendships pins (remember those!)... she painted... she tried to sew... she used colored pencils... she cooked... she made stationary...In College, at the University of Minnesota, Basset wanted to pursue a career that she loved, so she first tried photography, film studies, and journalism. She thought about interior design. In 1996 Basset became a ski bum. she packed her bags, bought a YACIMA Bike and Ski rack and move to Colorado. She fell in love with Ski life. That was it, her new degree, Recreation and Leisure Studies. A year later she graduated with a degree and started "grown up life". But she still had a desire to create.
Fast Forward 10 years...
In Italy while working the Olympic Winter Games, Basset fell in love with Murano glass. After the Games, she and her husband toured the Italian countryside. She purchased glass and jewelry from every city they visited. To her it was absolutely a trip to remember. While back at home she learned that her friend's sister makes glass. She took her to Bella Studio where she signed up for several classes. Basset loved the class... Loved the medium... Loved the glass... She loves the freedom to create...
Today, she live in Colorado Springs with her husband Alan and their son Cortland. She stays busy raising a family, and designing her glass jewelry at her studio in Colorado Springs.
